As a business wholly existing around the natural abundance of the ocean, we understand the need for true synergy between protecting marine life and harvesting its goodness. Our fishing is fully sustainable and we monitor fish populations to ensure they remain at healthy levels, focus on processes to reduce bycatch and invest in innovations & technologies to support our sustainable efforts.

Our Planet

At the heart of our business is the ocean, as such at the heart of our commitment to the planet is to safeguard the ocean and all marine life through ethical and sustainable fishing practices.

It is not possible to be in the fishing industry without having a deep respect for the ocean, and a true understanding of the impact it has on the overall wellbeing of our planet, as such we make it our priority to protect the small part of the ocean in which we live and work, and to lead by example showcasing the beautiful and beneficial synergy that can exist between the planet and its people.

Sustainable Fishing

Our fishing is fully sustainable and comply with the regulations from WCPFC, FFA and Fiji Ministry of Fisheries we monitor fish populations to ensure tuna stock they remain at healthy levels, focus on processes to reduce bycatch and invest in innovations & technologies to support our sustainable efforts.

We are a member of the Western Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC) and our commitment to sustainability is seen in our yellow fin, big eye and Albacore Albacore products that proudly carry the blue Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) label.

We are committed to Dolphin safe fishing practices and our vessels are under the jurisdiction of the government of Fiji that prohibits illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing activities.

Traceability

At Golden Ocean we are fully committed to 100% traceability in our produce, and with a completely vertically integrated value chain we are able to provide this guarantee – all our fish is caught by our own vessels and processed in our own facilities, and we adhere to traceability standards that surpass industry norms.

Our holistic approach integrates compliance with global standards, providing our customers with confidence in their choices.

Fleet and Facilities

Our fleet and our fish processing facilities are maintained to the highest standards in compliance and quality control, ensuring that any potential negative impact that could be caused to the environment via daily operations is mitigated and minimized.

In addition to ensuring our fleet is operating in compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines, our crew is also trained to minimize the impact of fishing on the environment. We use the most efficient and effective fishing methods to minimize waste and bycatch, and we are dedicated to ensuring that our customers receive superior quality seafood products.

Environment: We’re dedicated to slashing environmental footprints by minimizing toxins, pollution, and hazards to worker and community safety. We have a strong focus on waste reduction and recycling efforts, pushing reuse and recycling rates to the maximum. Over 95% of our solid waste, mostly fish waste, gets a new lease on life – transformed into animal feed. and fish oil. But we’re not stopping there. We’re on a mission to slash solid waste generation, promoting reuse and smart use of resources every step of the way.
